Food production contributes significantly to climate change. But can changing what we eat really make a difference? Could some of these changes also benefit both our health and the planet?
In this public lecture, we'll explore the climate impact of different foods and diets, challenge common misconceptions, and look at practical, evidence-based strategies that benefit both people and the environment.
But individual choices are only part of the picture. We'll also discuss how agriculture, industry, technology, and policy can help build a more sustainable food system.
As an example of emerging food technologies, we'll take a closer look at cultivated meat: how it is grown from animal cells, its potential environmental benefits, and the challenges and uncertainties that remain.
No scientific background is needed — just curiosity about what we eat and how we can shape a healthier, more sustainable future. The lecture will be followed by an open discussion.
Please note that photographs and video recordings will be taken during the event for documentation, reporting, and public communication purposes; for online events, this includes recordings of the session and screenshots. If you do not wish to be included in such recordings, please let us know on site or, for online events, at the start of the session (e.g. via chat) – you are also welcome to keep your camera switched off. We will take this into consideration.
