Partner Spotlight: Making Climate Action Accessible, from Property and Mobility to Health
An interview with Allianz, one of Munich Climate Week’s sponsors

As Munich Climate Week prepares for its very first edition, we are excited to introduce the organisations standing behind it. In this installment of our partner spotlight series, we present a conversation with Allianz, the global insurer headquartered right here in Munich, about why it chose to support the initiative and what climate action means for a company of its size and reach.
Making climate action accessible is at the heart of this partnership. As the organization puts it:
"We aim to make climate action more accessible for customers and communities by providing information, tools, and resources that connect to what matters most, from property and mobility to health”.
By meeting people where they already are—in the decisions they make about their homes, how they get around, and their wellbeing—this approach turns climate action from an abstract goal into something practical and personal, giving communities the tools they need to make a real difference.
What made Allianz want to be part of the very first Munich Climate Week as a sponsor?
At Allianz, sustainability is core to our strategy. We contribute to climate action as well as support the resilience of customers and communities against climate impacts.
As a global company headquartered in Munich, we are thrilled to be partnering with Munich Climate Week.
During the Week, we seek to engage Munich residents on climate-related risks and prevention, as well as highlighting concrete contributions to climate action. Through selected Allianz agencies across Munich, visitors can access information on local climate-related risks and practical resources. Together with FC Bayern, we will also open the Allianz Arena for sustainability tours for residents.
What is Allianz's own ambition for climate change? Beyond its own operations, how do Allianz's insurance and investment decisions contribute to its climate strategy?
Allianz tackles climate change on two fronts: aiming for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions as a contribution to slowing climate change, and supporting climate adaptation and resilience to deal with rising climate risks.
The Allianz Net-Zero Transition Plan outlines our long-term ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, not only for our own operations, but also for our Property & Casualty insurance portfolio (the companies, homes and cars we insure) and the investments of insurance premiums. On our path to this longer-term target, we have set clear 2030 targets for these areas.
To achieve these targets, we strategically steer the composition of our insurance and investment business, engage with customers, companies and asset managers, drive energy efficiency and green mobility, and finance and insure renewable energy and other low-carbon solutions.
Meanwhile, climate change is already worsening extreme weather events, such as storms, floods and heatwaves. At Allianz, we work with customers and communities on understanding climate-related risk and building resilience.
What's ahead for Allianz on this path, and who would you like to see join as a collaborator to drive implementation?
Allianz means alliance, working together. We believe that significant challenges like climate change cannot be solved by any one actor alone. Effective partnerships can promote greater transparency, faster implementation, and more equitable outcomes as economies transition towards more sustainable and resilient models.
At Allianz, we actively engage in various sustainability-related initiatives, for example, in the wider framework of the United Nations, or on specific topics such as contributing to closing insurance protection gaps in climate-vulnerable countries.
As Munich Climate Week approaches, we are grateful to have Allianz alongside us, bringing both its scale and its expertise in risk and resilience to a conversation that reaches everyone in the city. We look forward to seeing residents make the most of the resources, tours, and conversations that Allianz is bringing to the week!
