Energy is becoming more expensive, water is becoming scarcer, and in an increasingly uncertain world, reliable supply chains and sales markets can no longer be taken for granted. German companies are feeling the impact today, both in their operations and in location-related decisions, including here in Munich. The key question is: How can we remain competitive without compromising climate sustainability?

For family-owned businesses and family offices that think in generations rather than quarters, several factors that are often seen as being in tension with one another actually belong together: energy independence and energy costs, profits and emissions reduction, as well as adaptation to climate change. This summer has vividly demonstrated how quickly the consequences of climate change can translate into concrete operational constraints, highlighting the need to consider these issues as interconnected.

At our breakfast event during Munich Climate Week, we will bring together entrepreneurs who are tackling these very challenges within their own businesses with policymakers and providers of long-term capital. Where do competitiveness and climate protection genuinely conflict, where can they be aligned, and what role does intergenerational responsibility play in this context?
