Building the Baseload: an engineering evening at Proxima Fusion
As part of Munich Climate Week, Proxima Fusion is hosting a technical evening for engineers tackling complex energy and hardware challenges.
Electrification and compute are increasing electricity demand. Meeting it requires clean, continuous power, and fusion is one of the long-term routes to that goal.
Proxima Fusion is developing stellarator fusion power plants designed for steady-state operation. Reverion's reversible solid oxide cell systems convert gas into power, capture the biogenic CO₂ for permanent removal (BECCS), and can store surplus renewable electricity as green gas. Two different routes to clean baseload, with a shared challenge: turning complex technology into working power plants.
We welcome engineers from automotive, aerospace, defense and other hardware industries to explore the engineering behind these technologies and exchange experience. Three talks, followed by food, drinks and open conversation with the teams building them.
Schedule
- 17:30 - Doors open
- 18:00 - The Need for Clean Baseload - Ellen Smeele, Chief of Staff at Proxima
- 18:10 - Building the first generation of stellarator fusion power plants - Yusra Nadir, Cryogenics Engineer at Proxima Fusion
- 18:25 - Scale Happens – learnings from prototype to fully commercial SOFC system - Felix Fischer, COO at Reverion
- 18:40 - Q&A
- 19:00 - Networking, drinks & food
- 21:00 - End
A note on registration: Tell us a little about what hard engineering problem you are working on, and we'll confirm your spot within days. We are excited to have a diverse crowd building different things!
