Overstretched and Killed? On the Demise of the Concept of Sustainability
🌐 Language: English
💶 Free of charge
🎟️ Hosted by: Hochschule München
Sustainability is everywhere – in politics, business, academia, and everyday life. But what does the term still mean today? Has its ubiquitous use weakened its semantic content and normative value? Has sustainability become an empty signifier under which almost any societal goal can be subsumed? This online lecture and subsequent discussion will explore whether it is time to move beyond the concept of sustainability – and which normative ideals might take its place. Everyone interested in the topic is warmly invited to join the discussion.
Please note that photographs and video recordings will be taken during the event for documentation, reporting, and public communication purposes; for online events, this includes recordings of the session and screenshots. If you do not wish to be included in such recordings, please let us know on site or, for online events, at the start of the session (e.g. via chat) – you are also welcome to keep your camera switched off. We will take this into consideration.
