MORE THAN A WAVE brings together ecology and Munich's unique urban surf culture. A local ecologist, diver and surfer with professional experience at the Eisbach takes us below the surface: from aquatic biodiversity and water quality to the impacts of climate change on urban waters.

Together, we explore how people can enjoy, understand and protect the waterways we share. Fittingly, the event takes place at OutOfOffice Eisbach, a venue entirely inspired by the unique character of the Eisbach and Munich’s urban surf culture. As an added highlight, the space offers arguably the best view of the Eisbach wave in the city, creating a direct connection between the topic of the event and the Eisbach itself.

Climate Relevance

Climate change affects urban freshwater ecosystems through rising water temperatures, changing precipitationpatterns, droughts and extreme rainfall.
